Winterising Your Caravan: A Friendly Reminder from NorthWestCSV
As the colder months roll in, it’s easy to think the caravan season is over, but before you pack everything away, it’s really important to make sure your caravan or motorhome is properly winterised. A few simple steps now can prevent expensive repairs when spring comes around.
Drain It Down
The most common winter problem we see is frost damage caused by leftover water freezing in pipes, pumps, or heaters. Draining down your water system properly helps avoid cracked fittings and leaks. Don’t forget the toilet flush tank and any on-board water filters too.
Look After Your Battery
If your leisure battery isn’t going to be used for a while, disconnect it and store it somewhere cool and dry. Give it a top-up charge every few weeks to keep it healthy.
Keep It Clean and Dry
A good wash and a coat of wax will protect your exterior from winter grime. Inside, remove food and bedding, clean the fridge, and leave doors slightly open to prevent mould and damp.
Ventilation Matters
Even in winter, some air movement helps prevent condensation. Leave roof vents slightly open or use moisture traps inside.

Need a Hand?
If you’d rather leave it to the professionals, NorthWestCSV can carry out a full winter drain-down and safety check — saving you time and ensuring everything’s ready for next season.
